Linda's launched a new site

"I'm Nobody!   Who are you?   Are you - Nobody - too?     Then there's a pair of us!
Don't tell!  They'd advertise - you know!
How dreary - to be - Somebody!   How public - like a Frog -
To tell one's name - the livelong June -
To an admiring Bog!"  ~ Emily Dickinson

I've always loved this poem of Emily's. To me, the heart of it is that we are all humble human beings, sharing a rather ordinary existence. It also captures for me the essence of experiencing a quiet, peaceful life, not unnoticed necessarily, but certainly unannounced. However, in today's cyberworld, putting in information "About Me" is useful for visitors ;-). So here goes:
Hi! I’m Linda. Daughter of Abraham and Sarah (yes, really ;-) Having recently completed a major life cycle and sending my parents off to their next great adventures, I find myself contemplating what is next for me in this life.
You don't have to go looking for love when it's where you come from.
My first spiritual teacher in the Lakota tradition taught us that up until age 40 we don’t have anything to teach. Now that I’m past 40 I wonder what I have to offer that can be of use to others. I contemplated what has been the most influential teaching for me in my development and it was clearly the golden rule: do unto others as you’d have done unto yourself.  When I stepped onto the spiritual path in 1998, this was the single message that shone through to me from all traditions, and it was the one I undertook as my primary practice. I figured, if I could just do that every day, then inner peace would be mine! (insert universe laughing). Little did I know the profound implications of really living life to the letter of the rule. Needless to say, it has been an enlightening experience.
For two years I sat every week with a medicine woman, learning the Lakota Medicine Way teachings. During that time, I also began sitting with Buddhist teachers and delved into meditation. Prior to this whole hearted exploration, I had been raised in the Jewish tradition, and had also explored Celtic wisdom. Eventually through an intense study and practice of Pranic Healing® I came to Arhatic Yoga, which is now my spiritual practice. Through it all (and even still) my attention was always drawn to the question: “how do the teachings apply to and show up in our daily living experience?”
At the current moment, life is offering me the opportunity to pursue the experience of being human. My days are spent in service to family, friends and community as an energy healer, caregiver, companion, and fellow human. I hope you’ll enjoy visiting me here in cyberspace and sharing a virtual cuppa once in awhile, sharing your contemplations in the Musings section.
May your days be blessed with kindness always ~
